The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is an autonomous body registered, under the societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, on 15 Dec 1965 set up by the Ministry of Education Govt. of India to administer and manage Kendriya Vidyalayas. The KVS is governed by the Board of Governors headed by the Chairman of the KVS. Since its inception in 1965 the Kendriya Vidyalayas under the Sangathan(KVS) has come to be recognized as centers of excellence in the field of secondary and senior secondary education in the country, promoting National Integration and a sense of ‘Indianness’ among children while ensuring their wholesome personality development and academic excellence. Today this premier educational organization in India runs over 932 schools with over 8,42,000 students and around 38,000 employees on rolls.

Common text books and bilingual medium of instruction for all KVs.
All KVs affiliated to CBSE.
All KVs are co-educational, composite schools.
Sanskrit is taught from class VI to X.
The quality of teaching is kept reasonably high by an appropriate teacher pupil ratio.
No tuition fee for boys upto class VIII, girls upto Class XII and SC/ST students and children of KVS staff
